Diverse Tourney RD TWO
Thought I'd get the thread started.
This round will be for those voting "small" on the poll. Tiny map: 400 x 640 July 1942 (date not firm) Weather- not set. Not sure yet if "any" would help or hinder this small one. Turns: 30 Points: less than 1000, only Infantry / Support / Vehicles. Type: Urban brawl (sort of!) A lot of objectives. Again- ME with Attack & Defend. Edit- teams will select their own forces in the tourney! Let the discussions begin. |
...airborne troops....
|
The most important thing is balance in short range urban fighting. I'm sure it will be enjoyable provided that not just one side is stocked with vet or better SMG and engineer squads.
You know--the urban version of a POS tank pack. |
Great point-
So, based on the restrictions (Inf/Support/Vehicles only & rough date of 7/'42) some guidelines need to be set for purchases. Those in the "know" or have insite into this please comment on what we should follow. I'd like them to allow for as many different purchase options for each team as possibile so the "enemy" won't know for certain what's inside that next building or woods area. I'm down to tweaking the map, when finished I'll send it to the team Captains for some early recon! When we have the "facts down" we could start Rd 2 as soon as everyone is ready. |
How about Romanians vs Hungarians?
|
...still waiting for Allied start of rnd 1
|
Sorry I'm running behind on it but I've already put in 85 hours this week and writing this from work. We are scrambling to get our crop in so this pace my last for another week. If I'm holding things up too much I can withdraw.
|
Not to worry, life comes first......
|
Rom vs. Hun?
I can make a scenario for that meeting if you want. (I always liked the "Battle of Minors" scenario on the CD.) Or even a Rom vs. Rom- although the armor would have to be fudged to be even since the Romanians have nothing to speak of. For this rounds map I think Ger vs. Sov with some Inf limitations will do best, just need someone who knows what to list some. (That or let the Axis players pick the Allies Inf!) |
This can start as soon as the group is ready. (Unless someone has concerns with force balance/date.)
Map will then be sent to the Captains and players select their forces just as in round 1. Round 2 “Capture the City” Small map: 400 x 800 July 1942 Weather- South, dry, cool, midday, clear, calm. Turns: 25+ Points: 750- Infantry / Support / Vehicles, plus 10 total pts of Fortifications (yes, 10 whole points-wow!). Type: Urban (sort of) Meeting engagement: with Attack & Defend. Objectives: 10 750 total pts = Offensive: 550 pts, consisting of Infantry / Support / Vehicles. Defensive: 200 pts = @ 1 Platoon & some Support units. Infantry / Support only. |
Pat's in Iraq and not able to download files. I suspect it has to do with the cyber attack against the military not too long ago.
We're getting ready for a long western road trip--leaving early Sunday and arriving in Reno late on Tuesday, if all goes to plan. |
Jag has it right about the cyber attack, I can D/L files to my laptop here but there is only 1 area with a WIFI and its is a quite a walk for me to get there.
I will exchange files with ranger on our game, and with Bill for the tourney, but only on sundays. I wont be able to start diverse game 2 till I get back home. Kerry, you can pick an alternate to fill in for me on diverse 2 if you want, I wont be home till late jan. |
we can start as soon as you like...
|
Ok Swampfox take care!
Anyone else reading this want to play this round? Bob, feel free to handpick a new team member. |
Any volunteers....
|
Come on, Frank, pull your old computer out of the closet or get that Vista piece of junk running right. We need you. Combat Mission needs you.
|
No takers yet- checking with Norad.
If he can't play I'll step in-if the Allied players don't mind: the rest of the Axis team can select the units etc. |
Come on Kent, time to jump back on the horse.
|
we got pizza & beer over here!!
|
Doof- I missed a message from Norad, waiting his decision.
|
So- we still need a 6th.
Any one of the guys who "still play CM" want to volunteer for this one? |
Looks as if you'll have to join the bad guys.
|
My mouse is getting flabby..need a good game soon....
|
Ok, I'll get the map off to everyone soon, remember to hash out the TEAM units: I'll let my teammates select the Axis units.
Team Captains- Axis: AirborneBob Allies: SSpoom Matchups: KG-AirborneBob vs. KG-Soldier KG-Jag vs.KG-Rangerboo Palantir vs. KG-SSpoom recap: Round 2 “Capture the City” Small map: 400 x 800 July 1942 Weather- South, dry, cool, midday, clear, calm. Wow--10 objectives! That seems to be a high number for such limited forces.
|
Yep, that means each side gets some opening options.
I'm designing the diverse rounds specifically for friends  who not only want to work out how to win but how to, "get the best of each other!" :flamethro I think this tourney of inter-site match-ups are more about having fun and getting "bragging" rights :dancing2: than just getting "THE" flags. Sure you may have the flags but "those" guys are still out there & need a whooping. :secruity: Map has been sent to all the players- start planning! :shakehand Axis: AirborneBob / Jag / Palantir Allied: Soldier / RangerBooBoo / SSpoom Axis vs Allied KG-AirborneBob vs. KG-Soldier KG-Jag vs.KG-Rangerbooboo Palantir vs. KG-SSpoom |
Whats the word on the Allied team?
I think the Axis are about ready to get the show on the road. |
Ja Vohl...Kommander...:beerglass
|
:frown:
I do believe this tourney is :skull[1]: for lack of interest. At which I'm rather surprised based on the "Do you still play CM" poll.:dontknow: On to other things I guess. |

Since I was still working on round 1 I was waiting to hear from my comrades on round 2.
|
:questionm
There's been a lack of communications all around then - no word or postings at all from the Allied side . How about the captains posting the status of the teams. |
Im fairly sure we are all ready to go.....
|
Hmmm ok,
If KG-Swampfox is back :wavey: (I'll step back out) then the match-ups look like this: KG-Swampfox vs. KG-SSpoom KG-AirborneBob vs. KG-Soldier KG-Jag vs.KG-Rangerboo Are the Allied players ready to go & did they make their force selections? If so then both captains can send me those selections & I will set the scenario & send it right out. Team Captains- Axis: AirborneBob Allies: SSpoom |

Kerry, I do not want to take your place in this now when you have already decided to play... I will if your heart is not in playing, but I do not want to edge you out of it because you think I'd be upset.... Swamp |
No problems Swamp, play-on!
It makes it easier for me since I designed it I can answer any questions & set-up the games without worrying about inside info on the "enemy." Just need to make sure everyone's on-board and now ready!!! Someone go poke the Allies with a sharp stick... |
cannon fodder
Ok, I'm behind the curve on this...
Has the map been released for recon? I do not have it if it has.... I have not seen team selections yet and I do not care what they are, but i'd like to see what i've got to work with.... SSpoom is a tough oppenent and I will need to do my homework if I'm to be his cannon fodder...... kgswampfox@gmail.com |
Sorry guys the holdup is my fault as I have not really had the time to pick units (properly that is)or really even look over the parameters or map.
I will try to push this forward on my list =) so we can get started soon. |
I'm bleary eyed but back!
|
Alrighty then, just have the captains send their teams force selection to me and it can begin.
