Default For the Week of October 18, 2009

Our first selection this week is from Tamiya by way of HobbyLink Japan. In the 1:35 scale and for $31.48 (more or less), it's the JGSDF Light Armored Vehicle--Finished Model. The Vehicle is mounted on a display plate and finished in the markings of the JGSDF as they deployed to Iraq in early 2004. Die-cast lower chassis part adds weight and "feel" to what would otherwise be a very light model.

They won't let me show it to you, but you can view it here:

Our second AFV pick is the US Marine Corp M3 Half-Track - Bouganville 1943 in 1:50 scale for $22.99 from Corgi by way of Airplanes and More.

This early-model M3 Half-Track with .30-caliber water-cooled machine gun was one of the first used by the Marines in the Pacific. The M3 did not lend itself well to jungle warfare or beach landings, so was not widely used. Corgi Collection #HC60409

If you don't live on a tropical beach, get yours here:

Our first flying pick is a 1:72 offering from Hobby Master by way of Aikens for $32.95. It's the USAF 917TH TFW "PEANUT" A-10A THUNDERBOLT.

This 1/72 scale die cast model of the Thunderbolt II - affectionately known as the Warthog - sets a new standard in attention to detail. From the intricate cockpit with its opening canopy to the finely replicated turbofan blades, optional-position landing gear, and experimental three-tone "Peanut" paint scheme developed for possible use in 1990's Operation Desert Storm, top-of-the-line manufacturer Hobby Master has outdone itself. You even get enough removable armament - Sidewinder missiles, laser-guided bombs, mine dispensing munitions and much more - to take on a small air force! So don't miss this one - order yours today. 9½" wingspan; includes a display stand.

If your not allergic, get one here:

Our last pick is a war ender from Corgi and Spirit of '76. With the 30% discount announced on the home page, you can grab the 1:144 scale Boeing B-29 Super Fortress Enola Gay for just $18.89.

She can be found at the top of this page:
