Default For the Week of February 26, 2012

This last week was marked by some unplanned and unintended juggling by a family member. It did not end well. Fortunately it was at the beginner's level and involved only 3 planes that were never designed to fly. To take my mine off that event, let's go to our first selection for this week.

Our first of things that belong on the ground is the Forces of Valor 1:32 scale U.S. 6x6 1.5 Ton Cargo Truck from Wartoyz for $37.99.

This die cast 1:32 scale version of the U.S. 6x6 1.5 Ton Cargo Truck depicts the vehicle as seen in the European Theater during 1945.

This U.S. 1.5 Ton Cargo Truck is part of Forces Of Valor's Enthusiast Edition series, which is the extremely detailed version of this vehicle.

The 1:32 scale die cast metal vehicle is approximately 8 inches long and has wheels that roll.

In the mid-1960's the Buffalo Springfield provided us (well--those of us who were born and listening anyway) the musical message "Flying on the Ground is Wrong". With this in mind we begin with our so far unjuggled picks of flight.

Fantastic gets the first ball into the air with the Hobby Master 1:72 scale F-102 Delta Dagger, Hellenic Air Force (HA3103) from Fantastic Flyers for $48.97.

Next on the juggling line this week is the 1:48 scale Hobby Master U.S. P-51D Mustang - Old Crow - Signature Edition - from Wartoyz for $71.99.

Many people consider the P-51 Mustang the best fighter of WWII. Its combination of speed, range, maneuverability, and firepower gave it great versatility. Its use in all major theaters of the war included long range, high altitude escort of Bombers, close air support for ground troops, and photo reconnaissance.

This special Signature Edition die-cast 1:48 scale U.S. P-51 Mustang is part of the Air Power Series from Hobby Master. It depicts the famous 'Old Crow' P-51D Mustang flown by 16.25 victory ace Col. Clarence 'Bud' Anderson of the 363rd Fighter Squadron, 357th Fighter Group 'Yoxford Boys' as is was seen in 1944.

This highly-detailed die-cast P-51D Mustang is approximately eight inches long and has a wingspan of approximately 9.25 inches. It has many detailed features, including engraved panel lines, a well-equipped cockpit with sliding canopy and a removable pilot figure, a rotating propeller, movable wing flaps, optional position landing gear, two styles of removable drop tanks, and authentic markings including victory symbols beneath the canopy.
