Default For the Week of April 11, 2010

To help make this week a little less taxing, we'll start with two 1:48 scale tanks from the smaller side of the Tamiya Masterwork collection. The first is a M4 SHERMAN EARLY PRODUCTION C Co. 756TH TANK BN.5TH ARMY from HW Japan for 3,360 Yen or about $37.33.

Here's the road to the east:

Next up is the Soviet KV-1 directly from Tamiya for $43.50.

This way to heavy metal (and plastic):

For this week in the air, we feature two 1:32 scale Corgi Bf 109G's which are fading from the market.

The first is from 3000Toys for $67.95. It is the Messerschmitt Bf109G-2 Yellow 12, Oberleutnant Heinrich Ehrle, Staffelkapitan 6./JG5, Petsamo, Finland 1943.

This particular aircraft is remarkable for the livery. To provide camouflage more suited to the terrain over which it was operating, Ehrler's early Gustav had been given a coat of washable paint (including the fuselage cross), to which large irregular patches of dark green had been added.

Our final pick of income tax filing week is the Messerschmitt Bf109G-6 - 2./JG 302, October 1944 from Corgi and The Toy Headquarters for $68.99.

This interesting aircraft was flown by 2./JG 302 in October 1944 as a night fighter in home defense duties against Russian bombers.

According to regulations, the normal three-tone grey camouflage has been replaced by brown and dark green. The rare JG 302 “Wilde Sau” emblem is on both sides of the cowling, and depicts a Red devil riding a wild boar.
