From left to right on our imaginary map, I thought the map segments would look like this:
West
MidWest 1
MidWest 2
Center 1
Center 2
MidEast 1
MidEast 2
East
I imagined our very first battle was a "jump ball" like in college basketball and took place exactly between Center 1 and Center 2 and was to see where battle #2 was fought. We won, so it was fought on Center 2. We won that and the next battle was on MidEast-1. You won, and it's back to Center-2. you won again, so it's back to Center-1, you won again, now it's on to MidWest 2.
So you need two wins to go from one segment to the next, just not in the way you were thinking.
