Default For the Week of May 30, 2010

Happy Memorial Day and thanks to all who are serving or have served in the armed forces.

It is appropriate to start with the U.S. vehicle from World War II. In that regard we pick the Corgi Skirmish 1:50 scale M16 Quad .50 Half-Track from Historic Aviation for $24.95.

When mounted like this in a group of four, machine guns were highly effective in both the anti-aircraft and anti-personnel roles. This limited edition, 1/50 scale die cast model of a Quad-50 Half-Track that served in Operation Dragoon - the Allied invasion of southern France in August, 1944 - features textured surfaces; factory-applied plastic detail parts such as supplies, tools and weapons; rolling wheels and tracks; a weathered U.S. Army camouflage scheme; three hand-painted pewter infantry figures; and more. 5" long.

They are closing them out here:

Up next its the Tamiya 1:35 scale T-55A Desert Version from Military Issue for $69.95.

Replicating a Polish-built T-55A employed by Iraqi forces in the First Gulf War, this professionally assembled and hand painted, 1/35 scale, plastic and metal model features textured surfaces, an aluminum gun barrel, an opening commander's hatch, an anti-aircraft heavy machine gun and a loader's hatch, rear-mounted fuel tanks, realistic metal tracks, a desert paint scheme, and more. 7¼" long; arrives ready to display.

Get 'em where it is hot:

Our first pick from the sky is a great deal on Gemini Aces 1:72 scale Luftwaffe Bf 109F-4 from Collectable Jets for a mere $9.95.

Get one here while they last:

The Carousel 1 birds are all but gone from retailers--especially at great prices. However, we have found a 1:48 scale Fw 190D-11 Karl-Heinz Hofmann, JV 44, April, 1945 for $34.95 at Historic Aviation.

JV 44 was a special fighter unit of top Luftwaffe pilots assembled during the final months of World War II. Replicating the long-nose "D" variant of the Fw 190 flown by Karl-Heinz Hofmann of JV 44 in April of 1945, this limited edition, 1/48 scale model features engraved panel lines, a detailed cockpit with a sliding canopy and a pilot figure, optional-position landing gear, photo-etched radiator details and a rotating propeller, wing-mounted machine guns, authentic JV 44 markings and more. 8½" wingspan; includes a display base.

Scramble for one here:
