The battle was quite even, provided the Axis chose a force mix similar to the one we selected. If not, they would be outgunned and out numbered by the Soviets, who can buy infantry very cheaply.

The strength of even play was also a weakness, as two fairly equal players will be hard pressed to do anything other than split the VL points. The one exception here is that one side or the other could get forces sufficiently close to the the VL occupied by an opponent that are close enough to throw the VL into the "?" category. This situation reflects luck at least as much as skill needed to maneuver the troops that close to the VL.

There was a lot of good firefighting action. The results were usually determined by the classics of range fire power, numbers, angles and terrain. Setting up kill zones and covering angle so advance were two things that made this battle fun to play.
