Default War Plan Orange Announced by Grigsby & Cos.

Here's the preview that appears at Wargamer:

"Matrix Games and 2by3 Games announced on late Friday the completion of their latest operational-level wargame, War Plan Orange. This new operational-level wargame spawns in the 1920s, a turbulent time in the Pacific rim region following World War I. The United States Navy went so far as to develop a series of plans to deal with the threat from Japan. Of course, none of those plans came to fruition in the 1920s, but the developers at 2by3 Games ans Justin Prince Designs have created this new wargame to simulate these scenarios. Playing as Japan or the Allies (US, UK, France, and the Netherlands) in the first campaign (1922-1926), players control massive battleships in a time before aircraft carriers. In the second campaign (1926-1930), aircraft carriers are slowly coming to fruition and that battleships which dominate the high seas are becoming increasingly powerful.

War Plan Orange is based on the War in the Pacific (review) wargame engine, so players will be able to delve into massive amounts of detail, all of which has been meticulously researched to provide the most accurate historical play possible.

According to Matrix Games, War Plan Orange has gone gold and will be released within a week's time. The new wargame will be available for immediate download through Matrix's digital distribution. For more information, be sure to visit this product page or the official forums."

The Wargamer says and Matrix games confirms that War Plan Orange has been released. That was quick! Could it have something to do with Christmas?

This is a good seller. I have used them many times. Often their price is cheaper then MSRP but not in the case of War Plan Orange.

I have WITP, and have been considering this new one mostly because you don't have to deal with so many ground and air units in this new one. Also you won't have to worry about Japanese Production. I think this will be more naval oriented and with the ground and air war taking a lesser role.

In WITP air power is king.
