War of 1812
Ever since reading about this war while I was in junior high, I always thought that it ended in a draw (not exactly what we were taught), but resulted in "major victories" for the U.S. subsequent to, but as a direct result of, the war being fought.
In what appears to be joint Canadian and U.S. work, here's two links to this PBS program on the entire conflict that runs just under 2 hours: http://video.pbs.org/video/2089393539 http://watch.thirteen.org/video/2089393539/

The wild thing is, if we would of won that battle in Canada, Quebec was it? The USA could stretch to the Artic Circle. Alaska not with standing of course.
