Default Operation Posted in File Server

I have posted a short operation for the SAS mod on the file server.

The operation is a meeting engagement that was so typical of DDay.

Here is a description of this short operation.

Slashing Action at Amferville

Date: Jun 6 to Jun 8

Battle Type Meeting Engagement

Settings: Time 3 Days 15 Minute Battles, Morale On, Random Weather, Map: Amferville
Units: US 505/82 Ger 920/243

Limits:
Germans: Day one 6 AM no more than two tanks

US: Day one 6 AM may not use the following teams, BAR Rifle, Assault Engineers
May not use Jeeps, AT Guns, Howitzers until 6AM Day two.

Support: US Artillery and Air Germans None

Supply: US Limited Germans Full

Victory Conditions:
Major Victory: US secures the exits to Pont L'Abbe and Columby by end of day one.
US securees St. Sauver exit at the end of the operation.
GER deny access to every exit road.

Minor Victory: US secures the exits to Pont L'Abbe and Columby by the end of the operation
US secures the exit to St. Sauver
GER denies St. Sauver and Columby exit

For this operation the standard points system is NOT to be used. The key to victory is to gain exits as US player or to deny exits as the German player.

If this condition is not met then standard victory conditions as awarded by the computer determines winner.

I know many don't like limits, but the following realistically portrays a meeting engagement that did occur in the 82nd ABN sector on the morning of 6am. US Airborne troops had weapons such as BAR's dropped in separate cannisters, and many of these were not recoverd until much later in the day, if they were ever found.

This is typical of a meeting engagement that would have occurred in the early phases of D Day. In this case Airborne units are trying to secure the roads to Columby and Pont L'Abbe. In the former it is open up this road for further movements to the German rear areas. The road to Pont L'Abbe is to be held to provide US Airborne further entry to rear German areas.

The SAU file is to be used for a US Host. The SAG file for a German Host. I would advise the US player be the host at the start of the fight.

I think this will be an interesting fight. The US troops are certainly stronger in caliber than the Germans with regards to experience, morale, and leadership. They also benefit more from off map support modules. The Germans do have light tanks available, more support weapons and better access to key victory levels.

Please post comments about the operation with this caveat...if you're going to complain and just say this sucks, then offer positive criticism and be prepared to offer up something better to the community than criticism.

Regards,

KG Wiking
