Fallschirmjager Info
Someone had asked me awhile ago on our previous forum for some information on FJ numbers. I had saaved the post & just found it again-
According to Nafziger; There were 14 FJ divisions, plus a training FJ Division. Of those 14, a few of the higher # divisions were "thrown together" divisions. Only 5 were actually parachute divisions. Here they are- 1st (parachute) 2nd 3rd (parachute) 4th (parachute) 5th (parachute) 6th (parachute) 7th 8th 9th 10th 11th 20th 21st Erdman FJ Div. + the HG Parachute (FJ) Brigade + the FJ Ausbildungs (training) und Ersatz (replacement) Div. + the Ramcke Parachute Brigade + alot of other formations that are ad-hoc in nature, such as the "Schmitz Fallschirm-Sturmgeschutz Brigade". Crazy, huh? Now for Regiments- There where a total of 10 true FJ Regiments, some numbered, some named. 1. 31st Fallshirmjager Regiment 2. 58th Fallshirmjager Regiment 3. 59th Fallshirmjager Regiment 4. 60th Fallshirmjager Regiment 5. Menzel Fallshirmjager Regiment 6. Grossmehl Fallshirmjager Regiment 7. Laytved-Hardegg Fallshirmjager Regiment 8. Hubner Fallshirmjager Regiment 9. Schellmann Fallshirmjager Regiment 10. Jungwirth Fallshirmjager Regiment They also had a training & Replacement Rgt.- "Greve Fallshirmjager-Ersatz-Und Ausbildungs-Regiment" Then a few other regimental formations such as - "20th Fallshirm-Pionier-Regiment" In addition there where 5 FJ schools, FJ flak regiments, and other FJ Battalion formations |
