Here in Austin it's time to temporarily interrupt the celebration of the Longhorns victory over former #1 OU. It was a great game. While I'm tempted to feature only Texas related products, such as the GMP Texas Longhorn P-40, I will spare you all of that.

Our first armor selection is from On Mark International, which is located in Oklahoma--but I'm sure that they are all OSU fans celebrating their own tough fought upset victory tonight. They offer the 1:50 scale Corgi CC51006 - M4 A3 Sherman Tank U.S. Army - 2nd Armoured Division - Sicily, 1943 Limited Edition for just $19.80.

The picture is not a good one and cuts off the antenna, which has unit banners. But I have this one and can assure you it is a good looking piece. It appears as the first item on the page of this link:

http://onmarkint.netfirms.com/onmark...ilitaryveh.php

The picture of our second armor selection, which is also a 1:50 scale Corgi but from their newer Skirmish line, is much better. This one is a Cromwell Centaur Mk IV Tank & 3 British Paratrooper Figures (Normandy 1944) from Diecast Direct for $26.97.

Both of our aircraft selections this week are from the sale at the Flying Mule. Each is a Corgi 1:72 scale war plane from World War II.

The first is the hard to find Corgi Aviation Archive Collector Series AA33707 He 111 Diecast Model Luftwaffe III./KG 3, Gilze Rijen, Holland, July 1944, w/V1 "Doodlebug" Flying Bomb, (H-22) Limited Edition, offered for $69.99.

1:72 Scale Length 9" Width 12.25" Heinkel He 111

In 1944, Germany had developed the V-1 flying bomb. The Vergetungswaffe 1 Fi 103/FZG-76 (V-1), known as the Flying Bomb, Buzz Bomb or Doodlebug was the first modern guided missile used in wartime and the first cruise missile. Called the Buszz Bomb because of the characteristic sound of the engine, it caused considerable fear in targeted areas. People would listen to the missile approaching but then be relieved when it could be heard overhead as that meant it had actually passed them. If the ending noise cut out, it was time to take cover as the unpowered missile would go into its terminal dive and explode. The early versions were launched from aircraft and not rocket launchers as they were later in the war.

Famous airplanes and aviators from both military and commercial airline aviation are all honored.

Corgi "Aviation Archive" diecast airplanes feature:
  • Diecast metal construction with some plastic components.
  • Realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels and surface details.
  • Pad printed markings and placards that won't fade or peel like decals.
  • Optional extended/retracted landing gear with rotating wheels.
  • Poseable presention stand to display the aircraft "in flight".
  • Many limited editions with numbered certificate of authenticity.

  • Authentic detachable ordnance loads complete with placards.
  • Selected interchangeable features such as airbrakes, opened canopies and access panels.

The Sea Gladiator was the variant adopted by the fleet Air Arm. It was fitted with a deck arrestor, catapult points, and carried a collapsible dinghy. Numbers built totaled a minimum of 756 (480 RAF, 60 RN; 216 exported into 13 countries). Gladiators were also sold to Belgium, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweden, Norway, China, Ireland, Greece, Portugal, Egypt, Iraq, and South Africa. 804 Naval Air Squadron was formed in November 1939 from 769 squadron Sea Gladiators which had been detached to Hatston to counter enemy attacks on Scapa, the squadron subsequently embarked on HMS Glorious in April 1940 to provide fighter patrols during ferrying operations of 269 squadron RAF Gladiators to Norway, and then transferred to HMS Furious at Cambeltown in early May 1940. May until September 1940 was spent by 804 squadron at Hatston, operating in defense of Scapa Flow, and subsequently recognized as only one of two FAA squadrons operating with RAF Fighter Command in the Battle of Britain.

Our first selection this week is the Corgi 1:50 scale Legends Tiger I Tank, Ausf H, Michael Wittmann, Russian Front, LAH, German Army from Troy's Toys for $24.99.

The beast of the east is here:

http://www.troystoysinc.com/display_...tockid=US60509

Our second armor selection moves us to the modern battlefield. It is a Tamiya Masterwork T-55A Desert Version in 1/35 scale. Replicating a Polish-built T-55A employed by Iraqi forces in the First Gulf War, this professionally assembled and hand painted 1/35 scale plastic and metal model features textured surfaces, an aluminum gun barrel, an opening commander's hatch, a separately applied anti-aircraft heavy machine gun and a loader's hatch, rear-mounted fuel tanks, realistic metal tracks, a desert paint scheme, and more. 7¼" long; arrives ready to display. Military Issue has it for $69.95.

Find it in this sand pile:

http://www.militaryissue.com/product...category=Armor

Our two aircraft selections are 1:72 scale Dragon P-47 airbase dioramas. The first is offered by Squadron at $21.99. It is a P-47D Razorback 'Little Chief' with Airfield Base. Ready to display die-cast model with markings for 'Little Chief', HV*V, 61st FS, 56th FG. Detailed cockpit, removable drop tanks, rotating propeller, optional position landing gear and canopy, movable wing flaps, optional display stand and prepainted 6 1/2 in sq PSP texture display base.

Find it here:

http://www.squadron.com/ItemDetails.asp?item=DR50305

The second option comes to you from The Flying Mule for $24.99. It is the Dragon 1:72 Warbirds 50304 P-47D Thunderbolt Diecast Model
USAAF 15th FG, 47th FS, "The Turnip Termites", w/Airbase Hard-stand Diorama, Length 6" Width 6.75".

A P-47D is the subject of a new Dragon Warbirds release. The finely crafted miniature from Warbirds is a P-47D Razorback version, so-called for the sharp ridge on the upper fuselage behind the pilot’s canopy. The model depicts a P-47D of the 47th Fighter Squadron, which was activated on December 1, 1940 and was initially based in Hawaii. The model bears the colorful logo of “the Turnip Termites” squadron, and the plane is finished in a predominantly silver color. The squadron was credited with shooting down eight Japanese aircraft during the infamous Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, while it also went on to serve in other theaters of combat. Interestingly, the 47th Tactical Fighter Squadron is still in existence today flying the A-10 Warthog. This is a spectacular model, and it is enhanced by an authentic-looking scenic base that comes with the scale aircraft model. The diorama shows a section of airfield that is beautifully textured and painted in a most realistic fashion.

The Dragon Models "Dragon Wings 1:72 Warbirds Series" presents highly-detailed, ready-made diecast models of military aircraft.

Our two armor selections are from the sale at Burbank House of Hobbies. Both are Dragon World War II offerings, but with big differences.

The first is a 1:35 scale late production 1945 Tiger 1 offered for $40.00.

See this beauty at a very good price here:

http://www.houseofhobbies.com/dr1tiilaprpz.html

Our second choice is a 1:72 scale Sherman III serving with A Squadron of the Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry, offered for $11.00.

Special Features: - Open window display packaging - Highly popular and collectible item - True to 1/72 scale - Fully accurate mold - Fully assembled - Historically accurate markings and insignia - Includes protective display case

The Sherman was widely used by British troops in WWII, with its first combat debut being in the North African campaign. While the most common variant was the Sherman V (M4A4 in American nomenclature), the second most common was the diesel-engine Sherman III (M4A2). Dragon Armor has released another fine miniature of a Sherman III serving with A Squadron of the Royal Wiltshire Yeomanry. The tank is finished in a typical Mediterranean scheme of light mud and black paint. This particular scheme was officially introduced to all Middle East Command units in April 1943.

Here's this UK livery of the famous U.S. tank:

http://www.houseofhobbies.com/dr1shm4mkasq.html

  • Diecast metal construction with some plastic components.
  • Realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels and surface details.
  • Pad printed markings and placards that won't fade or peel like decals.
  • Opening canopies, revealing detailed cockpit interiors.
  • Optional extended/retracted landing gear.
  • Presentation stand to display the aircraft "in flight".
  • Authentic detachable ordnance loads complete with placards.
  • Accurately detailed underside with concealed screwheads.
  • No pilot figures.

Our final selection is a 1:72 scale Century Wings A-7E Corsair II U.S. Navy VA-86 Sidewinders AJ400 1978, brought to you by Joe Pilot for $45.33.

We hope that everyone (in the U.S. at least) had a happy Thanksgiving and, unlike the BCS, did not take on more than they could chew.

In the Thanksgiving dinner tradition, we'll start of big this week with the 1:16 scale Unimax Forces of Valor 85007, M4 Sherman Tank Diecast Model--US Army, Normandy, France, D-Day June 6th 1944. The Flying Mule has it for $324.99 and with free shipping.

Length: 14.25" Width: 6.75"

The U.S. M4 Sherman was the most produced battle tank in WWII. Many variants were designed and manufactured to increase their effectiveness against German Panzer divisions. The M4A1 was quick, highly maneuverable, simple to maintain and was equipped with a 76 MM gun. This large-scale model of the Sherman is bristling with features that make it highly collectible. The model itself is a real heavy-weight and includes details impossible to achieve in a smaller scale. The model also includes detailed figures of crew members. Arrives in an large, attractive package complete with history book and limited edition certificate.

The Unimax "Forces of Valor" range presents affordable, ready-made diecast models of military vehicles.
