Default Farewell to a fine piece of American Engineering

The F-14 is being retired. I'll miss seeing these babies fly by when I'm visiting my sister-in-law in Virginia Beach. One truly gorgeous plane. I was on a carrier for air operations once and it was a sight to behold.

I hate to see that one go... I've seen a couple at various airshows and its just an amazing aircraft all around. RIP F-14

It's my ALL-TIME favorite jet!

I will drink a few shots in it's honor tonight when I get home!

I grew up in Virginia Beach, lived at one time right next to NAS Oceana. Loved the F-14!

the F-14 has been and always will be the balls out American hot rod fighter of the Cold War. only the Flanker approaches it in visual badassness and nothing can still match its 100 mile plus engagement range. and of course Top Gun wasnt filmed with any pussy Air Force kit :P

The Tomcat with its wings swept was a thing of beauty in the air, it was as with all large fighters, a pain to wrench on. I cut my teeth on F-4s back when the earth was new, and they were a bitch to work on also. However you never forget the first aircraft you worked on, and look back on the time fondly.
