Sickos Abound

Yesterday, if it weren't for my daughters quick thinking and ability to run, she would have ended up as a victim of an abduction and possible rape/murder. Watch your children, do not let them walk home alone from school. I live 1 1/2 BLOCKS from her school that has about 2000 kids in it between the ages of 12 and 14 and she was STILL nearly accosted.

I really do prefer my life to be boring and uninteresting. This fall is gearing up to be as sucky as this summer was.

Wow Rob, i dont know what to say other than thank God for Hannah's sake she made it home to you safe and sound. Id invest in some Pepper spray for her and maybe you can teach her some self defense moves if you havent already. You know the drill, Eyes, Ears, Nose, Neck, Solar Plexis, Scrotum, Knees, Ankles, Shins & Toes.

Martial arts, enroll her soon if possible(and if desirable as this is quite a personal descision)
The traditional schools are the best as they teach and rely heavily
on discipline and respect. They are a huge confidence builder and will teach her how to spot potential problems and how to avoid them before put into a tight spot.

I too am very glad and thankful for Hannah's safty. I hope she is not too shaken up. I think that it is excellent that she had the presence of mind to run for it. Kudos to her!

As for pedephiles and rapist, I will never know why our justice system dosn't treat them like unreformable scum they are.

I'll agree with Norad, our systems are too soft on these psycho. And i think we are even smoother here in Canada. I have a son, and another incoming in April, i dont know what i'd do if something like that happen to them. Death panalties should be enforce for rapist and paedophil, for any sex crime.

Generally speaking, I'm not an advocate of the death penalty; that is, except in the case of child rapist/murderers. Rough times for Hannah lately, give her my best wishes. And I think a little pepper-spray on the key chain is a good idea.

I definitely agree on the use of death penalties for these kind of crimes. Any monster that is capable of such a crime will never be "fixed" and will thus only cause increased taxes for all of us as we pay for their room and board.

I bet that a politician with the balls to say this would pickup lots of votes.

A more politically friendly alternative would be to put these sickos in prison with real (economically motivated) criminals and advertise their crimes. The sickos would not tend to last too long in their company.

Thank god things worked out for Hannah. Hearing about this prompted me to have a family meeting to revisit how to handle this kind of situation. In our case, we would need to wait a few years to hand out pepper spray. Right now, my guess is that the recipient of the spray would be a sibling!

I'm very sorry Hannah had to experience such a terrible time. Thank God she's ok.

My good friend, Ed Romero, instructed martial arts classes while stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army.

He's highly recommended Jujutsu for my daughter, Amelia when he gets older. This form of martial arts uses an attacker's strength against them, enabling a weaker person to defeat a stronger person. You "react" to the attack.
