Default Armor Buys of the Year

I should have been working on this thread just after dark on New Years Eve. However, that was the end of a beautiful central Texas day and even after the sun went down it was comfortable to sit outside on the patio in shirtsleeves. It was much easier to light up the last cigar for 2011 and enjoy the stars and sounds of nature. Today, however, is much cooler thanks to small front coming through, so it's time to get to work.

Back on April 3rd, we featured the Corgi 1:50 scale Churchill MK III El Alamein from the Airplane Shop for $21.95. Today we feature the good news that it's still available for that same price.

Get sand in your shoes here:

During the year we featured several liveries and versions of the Dragon 1:35 scale Tiger 1 tank. We are happy to report that the DRR61020 Tiger I Late Production Pz.Abt.301 Köln 1945 is still available from Great Models for $39.95.

Tame this late war metal monster here:

On July 31st from the other side of the line in the Eastern Front we spotted the long retired 1:32 scale W. Britain Russian T-34 Tank with Soldier (Edition 2) from from Ag Farm Toys for just $37.95.

It's still in our sites here:

Too big to miss--even after a wild New Year's Eve and beyond party--is the Forces of Valor 1:16 scale Tiger I tank as it was seen in Poland in 1944, as part of Schwere Panzer Abteilung 505. Wartoyz had/still has one for you at $359.99.

Default Flying Buys of the Year

At least a couple times during 2011, we featured Dragon 1:72 scale Hornets. However, I have not been able to find one priced as low as $18.45, which is the current Great Models price for the F/A-18E Super Hornet VFA-105 "Gunslingers".

Set your New Years tailhook here:

http://www.greatmodels.com/~smartcar...m_num=DRW50296

Perhaps even more rare than the 1:72 scale Dragon jet fighters are any of the Carousel 1 1:48 fighters. On November 20th, we featured the F4F-3 VF-41 Red Rippers from Great Models for $34.95.

Grab on here before the last one leaves the carrier deck:

Likewise, it seems like just yesterday when, on the day before Halloween, we picked the camouflaged P-36A Hawk flown by Major Willis Taylor - commanding officer of the 27th Pursuit Squadron, 1st Pursuit Group - in the 1939 Cleveland National Air Races, this 1/48 scale die cast model features engraved panel lines; a fully outfitted cockpit with instruments, glazed windows and a removable pilot figure; a rotating metal propeller; retractable landing gear with real rubber tires; authentic markings; and more. 9¼" wingspan. Historical Aviation had the Carousel 1 1:48 scale P-36A Hawk--Willis Taylor, 15th Pursuit Group, 1939 Cleveland Air Races from Historical Aviation in stock for $39.95. They claim that they still do.

Call their bluff here:

May 1st was a big day, and not only for the Commies, as it was when be highlighted the 1:18 scale Admiral German Luftwaffe CL-13 (F-86E) from The Toy Headquarters for just $26.99.

Aircraft Features
1/18 Scale plastic display model
Movable Landing Gear
Movable Landing Gear Doors
Movable Flaps
Movable Flight Controls
Movable Leading Edge Slats
Movable Gun Ammunition Doors
Movable Canopy
Removable Seat Belt for pilot
Comes with one Pilot Action Figure
Comes with two drop tanks that can be displayed on or off the aircraft
Tampo Printed Markings!!!!
Length 25 1/2 inches
Wingspan 25 1/4 inches
Hight 10 1/4 inches

It takes two hands and only $3.00 more to handle this whopper:

Default Odds and Sods

On a semi regular basis we featured metal soldiers for you approval. December 18th was one such occasion, when the 1:50 scale Corgi WWII German Paratrooper Set from the Airplane Shop was spotlighted at the price of $11.95.

They await--ready to fight for you for that same wage:

http://www.airplaneshop.com/productd...=CORGI&id=1454

Although difficult to believe, 2011 found us a bit spacey from time to time. One just example occurred on March 27th, when we spotted the Corgi 1:1,000 scale STAR TREK SERIES KLINGON BIRD OF PREY in orbit at two different vendor. One--Toynk Toys through Amazon--still has it at $15.99, the lower of the two March 2011 prices.

She decloaks here:
