Default Civil War.....

It's time to choose sides.....no fence sitters allowed!

Though one of the biggest wars in America's history, the Civil War isn't that big when it comes to games. World War II dominates the wargame category, with titles on just about every platform in multiple genres.

Activision Value is hoping to give gamers a new history lesson this fall when it releases The History Channel Civil War. Though the game's existence isn't news, the details are. Previously revealed for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2, Civil War will also be released on the PC.

Civil War will be a first-person action game and will take place during 12 of the war's most notorious battles, including Gettysburg, Bull Run, and Antietam. The game will feature authentic guns, like repeating rifles, revolvers, and Gatling guns, but it will also feature plenty of gritty hand-to-hand combat with bayonets, sabers, and good old-fashioned fists. Gamers can play as either the Confederate or Union soldiers.

I am a nut for Historical anything... but this looks like it could be a VERY fun game, I only found 4 screen shots but it looks impressive.

It's set for a November 14th debut.

The fact that you will be using "repeating rilfes" and "Gatling guns" makes me think this will have no bearing whatsoever on real civil war combat.

Since it's supposed to be out shortly I am hoping for a demo to see for myself so to speak...

You never know, it could be a real gem..

I formed that same impression as did JJ.

Single shot muzzle loading weapons, rifled or not, are not a big draw to FPS players. I would guess that they accounted for about 80% of the primary weapons carried by both armies during the Civil War.

I had this talk with my Nephew, a Civil War Reenactor, about 2 years ago when he lamented to me that he wished there was a Civil War based FPS. I said "Come on Tyler, Could you imagine standing there loading a gun with a ramrod while being shot at by hundreds of other people on line?" lol. It wouldnt be much fun for most people, but if you could get enough people to do it right{Impossible nowadays} and line up and fight the way they did back then it would be a blast but you could never get enough of the right people together at once to pull it off. Unless of course you were at the set of Gettysburg the movie or some other such place.

Considering it is a FPS, it would suck to high heaven if you honestly had to wait 2 mins between shots.... I mean c'mon it is after all a game... but I could live with say a 30 second delay and I would NOT be using any tactics of the "day" either....

I don't expect complete historical accuracy but I do expect a fun experience with a FPS that I really never thought of until I read about this game online.
