Default Dragon to Add 1:35 scale AFVs to its line

Dragon makes the best 1:72 scale AFVs on the market and offers them at good prices. Good news! They will soon offer a line in of larger models. Here are the links:

Why dont more companies make AFV's in 1/35 scale? Is it because of cost, or other factors? 1/35 is all the rage in models, why not die cast? Me personaly, i dont like 1/72 at all, for any kind of object be it airplane of AFV, Die Cast or Model. They are too small for my tastes.

I agree. 1/72 doesn't do much for me, especially once you've seen how nice the larger scale versions are.

Many companies offer the larger scale die cast AFVs and war planes. 21st Century, which you can get from mass market retailers, offers 1/18 & 1/32 scales. Forces of Valor, whose lower but still very nice versions of their offerings are available from Target and others, feature the 1/32 scale as well. W. Britains are 1/32 (54 mm) scale. Corgi offers some 1/32 scale fighters. King and County are 1/29 (60 mm) scale. Minichamps makes the 1/35 scale. This list is not exhaustive. So there are many companies offering pieces in the larger scales.

Why aren't there even more? The folks at OnSite Diecast have offered the following observation: "If you chose to limit your collection to this 1/35 scale then you will run out of things to put on your display shelf pretty quick. ... Most tanks will measure approximately 9 to 10 inches long... ."

While the 1/72 make displaying detail more challenging, the Dragon 1/72nd line does a great job. Its offerings are still very affordable, although now closer to 21st Century and Forces of Valor.

I like larger models better than the small ones...mostly because it is to intricate to do smaller ones but i enjoy painting, and you get to paint more on the larger ones.

I have the entire line of WW2 AFV's from Dragon at the 1/72 scale. About 70+ total. Let me tell you, they look absolutely great.

I will probably start "spot" collecting the Dragon 1/35th scale if it's better than the Forces of Valor 1/35th line. Waiting for pictures.

I guess my natural aversion to that scale comes from my modeling background. i started building model cars in 1/24 as a kid and when i got older moved on to 1/35 tanks. i guess i just have 1/35 on the brain and thats why 1/72 just doesnt look right to me.
