Release Delay
Do to my volunteer work at SxSW, I am about 5 days behind in all things. Here is a 3/14/07 Battlefront blog entry about a delay in TOW's release:
Location: BlogsTheatre of War Posted by: 1C3/14/2007 9:34 AMSoftware development is a bit like war. No plan survives first contact with the enemy. :) The enemy, in this case, would be the code. During the final stages of MP testing we've discovered a serious and unexpected problem making it currently difficult if not impossible to connect via certain hardware configurations. This has thrown a wrench into the planned announcement of a firm release date and opening of pre-orders :( The release announcement was originally planned for yesterday already (we swapped it with the Mission Editor announcement) and we're now waiting for the team to figure a solution to the problem. Until we do, any release plan would be in jeopardy because until we know what is causing the problem we cannot plan for how long it will take to fix it. Did I mention that software development is like war? So we're in the waiting loop right now, with more testing scheduled for tonight and tomorrow. The good news is that once the light goes green, there should be next to no delay for the release date itself (there are rumors that it's planned for sometime next month). It's just the official announcement that is delayed, not the release. Sit tight... the last few hours won't kill ya! Moon PS. So now... nobody should complain that we don't keep you updated! April 19 release at $45; early April demo announced
Breaking news as reported at the Wargamer:
"1C and Battlefront.com have announced the official release date for Theatre of War, the much anticipated World War Two real-time strategy game by the creators of IL-2 Sturmovik and Combat Mission. Theatre of War will be released worldwide on April 19, 2007. The game is not sold in stores due to Battlefront's "independent publisher" policy, and is available directly from www.battlefront.com with several purchase options:

A quick note placed on the outside of the door to my hermitage;
Pre-order placed this evening. You fart-knockers are going to have hell to pay when I am done being holy and penitent.
