Default World at War -- Anyone buying this?

Anyone thinking about buying this game? It's gotten good reviews from both Gamespot (link attached) and PC Gamer. Sounds a bit like Hearts of Iron 2. It's PBEM compatible.

I've read a couple of reviews and it appears to have multiplayer PBEM capability. I'll post more once I read more and have more details.

I've got it, but have only messed around with the first tutorial. It has elements of Axis and Allies (from what I undertand of that game) and of Strategic Command.

Once you play it some, please post your thoughts. I have Koz interested in the game and it would be great to have a PBEM game of this sort that we could play. Also, let us know how the PBEM process works for the game.

No JJ--since being on the road (to be resumed for a full week in ME and MA for work all of next week), being sick for 3+ weeks, working on a couple of major projects at work, and flipping the odd CM file, I haven't had any time to get back to it.

Jag, did you ever find time to mess around with this? If so, how is it?

What I have been able to take from having just read product info and some reviews, is to me too much of the actual combat is abstracted for my tastes. HOI2 is just this side too conceptualized for me. Of course I probably won't be happy until someone comes up with a wargame that encompases the whole world, is realtime and uses a 500 meter/hex map broken down to company sized formations utilizing a battleplan developer that seemlessly integrates planning of all command staff levele up to the theatre level.
