Civil War Campaigns an attempt again...
Well, I fired up my old copy of "Civil War Campaigns: Gettysburg" again because I love the ACW and was looking for a fun option to play while resting between CM.
But, what a mess of drop downs, options, confusing screens, minute micro-management etc, just like I remembered when I first bought it and quickly moved on. The format is not an easy play system- very detailed but not player friendly in my opinion. And thats just the 4 turn intro scenario. Just the thought of having to work this hard in a full campaign with hundreds of units to oversee wears me out. I played SPI's Gettysburg boardgame, "Terribile Swift Sword" which I still have & greatly enjoyed but that monster was easier to play. The computer version should make a game easier to play but it seems not to be so. I'll probably give it a few more play attempts to see if it flows at all. If anyone plays this game let me know I hope you can help me along & change my opinion!
