Offense:
1 Platoon SS Mech Stug III/8 (regular) 301 pts
1 Bn Finish '42 Sissi (regular) 1208 pts
total 1509 pts

Defense:
1 Mountain Aufk Company (veteran) 461 pts
3 Mnt 75mm Infantry guns (green) 90 pts
total 551 pts

Grand Total 2060 pts.

(thanks Jag, great anaylisis! You'd make a great G-2)
Does that mean you are not going to provide the defence with any antitank capability?

Pat--the 5 IG's will provide anti-tank and smoke capability. They will be more effective on a small map like this one. We don't necessarily have to kill their tanks, but can knock their guns out or immobilize them as well.

Still you have correctly pointed to the weakness of this force. The problem is that the not-so-cheap 50 mm ATG's are not very good against T-34's and the 75/76 mm ATG's are very expensive. We have to buy at least a company of infantry to hold our objectives. I see this as our first priority.

The Soviets can and will get a large infantry force at a relatively cheap price. The fact of the matter is that the Soviets have the best of things, especially on defense. Their purchase options included some very good ATG's and a great deal of infantry for very low prices. The T-34's are also the best armor buy for the points.

I play tested the IGs against T-34-42s, both reg:

2 IGs vs 1 T-34 at 150 meters
Gun 1 had 9 HC, gun 2 had 4HC
Very low kill chance @ 150 meters
8 rounds fired, 5 hits, 3 misses before it was abandoned.

I'm not saying we shouldnt go with the IGs, but they are shakey as a A/T gun platform
.

I also play tested against a variety of T-34 and KV-1...was able to route, immob, Gun Damage, or destroy T-34 M42 and M43's with the 75mm Inf gun (1918) at 110 meters. Up against the KV-1 was a different story. Was able to Immob the KV-1 at 100 m but it stood there and was able to blow apart 2 IG's
I did learn that the best way is side shots...flanking them always is better.

It sounds like its IGs then, I can work with the units as picked by Bob and Bill and I'm ready to rock and roll....

I'm just short of 30 years, 23 of that full time civil service.

Fighters the whole time, 11 years on F-4s, 19 on F-16s

Fighter maintainers, for the most part, are the hardest working, most dedicated group of people I could hope to be associated with. I'd go anywhere with them.

I hope your time in the guard is as enjoyable as mine has been..

What type of unit did you join?
