Usenet 2007 Wargame(s) of the Year Announced
No--CMSF was not even near the top. Here are the winners:
"2007 has been a very important year for our contest: thanks to the WGA strike, we were able to offer a ceremony almost on par, in style and substance, with the Golden Globes - no small feat! We even had members from the foreign press voting :o) As usual, the Wargame of the Year on CSIPGW-H is chosen by a motley bunch of international wargame players who are passionate both in their hobby and in the general expression of their world views. The Award is the result of many man-hours of gaming, open debate in the NG, discussions with the designers, the publishers and the producers themselves, analysis of what could be improved, what went wrong and what was learned in the last year of wargaming and so on. [For example, I learned to save my commentary on HD, so to be able to recycle it year after year with only minor changes!] But, once again, the most important thing is that the CSIPGW-H Award is the most genuine expression of a collective of people who, while not always agreeing between themselves, always speak their minds and their hearts on whatever the issue on the table is. The final results, as already published, are # 1 - AGEod's American Civil War - 64 points # 2 - Advanced Tactics - 47 points # 3 - Carriers at War - 40 points [However, the final tally can still vary if you live in Florida :o) ]" Link: http://groups.google.com/group/comp....e461b3c321fd5a This completes the Top 10 : # 4 - AGEod's Napoleon's Campaigns - 39 points # 5 - Commander : Europe at War - 22 points # 6 - Air Assault Task Force - 21 points # 7 - Guns of August 1914-1918 - 17 points # 8 - Making History - The Calm & The Storm 2.0 - 14 points # 9 - Cose Combat : Modern Tactics - 11 points #10 - Theatre of War - 7 points See: http://groups.google.com/group/comp....9eed19965a5c8f

I just picked up AGEOD's American Civil War: The Blue and the Gray the other day. Got me a free copy for winning one of the Matrix Fantasy Football Leagues this winter. Haven't had time to do much more then open up the hood and look at things and I think my computer is going to need an upgrade before it will play at it's best but I like what I see. I also plunked down some of the X-Mas cash I got for AGEOD's Birth of America and played a little against the AI and like it. Been lucky this year as I picked up a copy of War in The Pacific for winning a Matrix Fantasy Baseball League also.

It's a sad year when a crappy game like Carriers at War comes in third place. That games sucks compared to the original.
