On the uboat theme went to this place when I was a student at U of Liverpool. Cool doesn't even begin to cover it.

This is the operations room for all Atlantic convoys, totally bombproof etc. If you ever get chnage it is amazing and basically untouched as it was never used after 1945.

My favourite is the phone box inside the building. Direct line to the War Cabinet with an armed guard posted outside at all times.
