Dragon, well known for their high quality 1:72 AFV line, has released the second of their 1:35 Tigers. This one is in winter Eastern Front camo. It is the Dragon Armor DM-61003 Tiger Tank Diecast Model s.Pz.Abt.502, #122, Eastern Front
offered by Pete's at $65. You can see it in the July snow here:

http://www.petescollectibles.com/dis...=DRR61003#item

Better pictures but a bit hight price tag are observed at the Flying Mule:

http://www.flyingmule.com/products/DM-61003

If you want one, I suggest that you act quickly.

[P.S. KG_Panzerschreck and I have done further research (including actually reading what was posted by the Flying Mule) and have concluded that this is an initial production Tiger, which is rarely modeled. Generally speaking, Tigers can be broken down in to initial, early, mid and late production versions. Added 7/16/06.]

Looking to the sky, this week we feature the IXO line. The IXO line in North American is actually European Altaya line being dribbled out a few pieces at a time. You can see the complete Altaya collection here (and being able to read French will help):

http://www.altaya.fr/ficha.php?id=101

From the IXO line we feature the rare DO 335A-1 Pfeil from a Hamilton, ON site that ships internationally. Maybe KG_Thorshammer can tell us something about Modeller's Choice, which is one of the few places in North America which offers the Pfeil. It will fly your way for $24.99 in Canadian Dollars. See this rare German bird here:

http://www.modellerschoice.com/Deskt...productid=6050

More of the IXO line can be observed at Pete's and the Flying Mule here:

http://www.petescollectibles.com/ixomodels.asp

Default For the week of July 16, 2006

We'll start with World War II war birds. For the experienced collector and/or one with some extra scratch, the unusual offerings of Eagles International are worth checking out. I especially like their earlier versions of the P-51 Mustang. They are hard to find and most places that carry them want not much under a C note a piece for them. However, Wings and Wheels offers these earlier Mustangs, as well as pre-orders for US trainers for $69.95 a pop. You can order one or more here:

http://www.wingsandwheel.com/eagles.htm

Because Wings and Wheels don't have pictures of these planes, you can see the Eagles International line here:

http://www.onmarkint.com/eagles/

For you beginning collectors or those just looking for bargains, Wings and Wheels also has a great sale on a good number of Corgi aircraft that have been discontinued. You will probably want to look at the particular model at the site that covers all the Corgi offering and which appears a few threads below this one, before you buy to assure that you are ordering exactly what you want. After you have done so, make your selections for only $10 or $15 a piece here:

http://www.wingsandwheel.com/clearance.htm

If you have some money left over, you may also want to consider the Armour offering on sale just down the same page.

Our AFV offering this week is Product ID: TA26508
Category: Tamiya Masterwork Collection
TA26508 1/48 Ger Tank Destroyer Hetzer (Finished Mid Production)

Description: 1/48 Ger Tank Destroyer Hetzer (Finished Mid Production) camo version

it is from Micro Macro Mundo Inc. and available for $42.58. They ship internationally, so see it here:

The dog days of summer are here, especially in the Lone Star State. So while most of us outside the upper Midwest are hiding inside under air conditioning, it might be just the time to check out some cool summer die cast deals.

Looking to the hot pavement or dry dusty trails, we again feature two AFVs from different military eras. In chronological order, the first is a Corgi German Sd. Kfz. 7 at 1:50 scale from their History Channel series. It is offered by Diecast Direct for $19.99 and can be one half of a buy 2 and get 1 free shopping trip. You can see it awaiting a load here:

http://www.diecastdirect.com/asp_mod...uctCode=C60010

The second, from the Flying Mule at the same scale and for the same price, is:

Corgi Military Vehicles CG-US51104
M113 Assault Vehicle Diecast Model
US Army 11th Armored Cavalry, "Draft Dodger", Vietnam

Catch it here before it heads into the jungle:

http://www.flyingmule.com/products/CG-US51104

The best deals this week seem to all be in the air. Our first selection is again from the Flying Mule. It is an 1:72 scale IXO model that can be snatched on sale for just $14.99. One of the Brit's best, it is:

IXO Models Junior IX-DDIJ004
DeHavilland Mosquito Diecast Model
RAAF No.464 Sqn, Tom McFee/Geoffrey Atkins, Amiens Prison, France, Operation Jericho, February 18th 1944

See it here, before one of fastest planes in the theater zooms out of range:

http://www.flyingmule.com/products/IX-DDIJ004

Our fourth and final selection this week is again from the Flying Mule's sale page. It is a Corgi 1:72 scale German uber jet fighter priced at $19.99:

Corgi Aviation Archive Collector Series CG-AA35702
Messerschmitt Me 262A Diecast Model
Luftwaffe 3./JG 7 Nowotny, "Yellow 5", Anton Schoppler, Saaz, Austria, 1945
Limited Edition

Put your reticle on it here, before it kicks in its twin jet engines:

Sorry to disappoint you Jay, but that almost never happens.

Almost all my "units" are safely encased to avoid interactions with nephews and a certain beagle pup.

The Kurland Tiger I looks sweet as all get out. Nice camo.

BTW, does anyone make U-boats and ship models?

Sorry Kent, I'm at my max for photos, but please feel free to one or more.

Ships and subs are available, but the good ones are very pricey. One of these days I hope to save up and get a Type VII U-boat and US Gato class subs.

I was joking with the smilies. The camo is awesome though.

I figured someone made ships and subs. I also figured they were pricey as well, too bad.

Default For the Week of August 6, 2006

This week we start with AFVs and we start big--as in a 1/6 AH01 Sd.Kfz. 250 German Halftrack from Armor Hobbies and sold at Great Models for $239.95. Shipping is free is the US, as you can see here:

http://www.armorhobbies.com/default.asp?page=a25 and

http://www.greatmodels.com/

Some assembly is required.

While at the site, you can also check out the 1/6 BRA001 Pz.Kfw.IV Ausf.H, which can be yours for a mere $500. See how half a G can fly out of your pocket here:

http://www.greatmodels.com/~smartcar...tem_num=BRA001

For those looking for something a bit smaller, go to 3000Toys with $19.50 in hand for 1:50 scale Italy: The Race to Messina and Beyond - M4 A3 Sherman Tank - British Army - Royal Scots Greys - Italy, 1943. See it here:

http://www.3000toys.com/catalog/item...d=CORGICC51004

We began by featuring some higher priced items, so we'll compensate with some of the lower end for our airplane devotees.

The first, and most expensive, will set you back just $14.99 and you can have your choice of 3 different 1:50 IXO planes from the Flying Mule. The first option is F4F Wildcat Diecast Model USMC VMF-224 Bengals, Robert Galer, Guadalcanal Island, September 1942. It can also be found here:

http://www.flyingmule.com/products/IX-PIXJ019

The second option is Ki-43 Oscar Diecast Model 3rd Chutai, 54th Sentai, Akira Sugimoto, Japan, 1943 and might be seen trying to find the Wildcat at this heading:

http://www.flyingmule.com/products/IX-DDIJ005

The third IXO option came too late and in too small numbers to help much to stem the Germans in 1940. It is a Dewoitine D.520 Diecast Model
Armee de l'Air GC III/6, "White 6", Pierre Le Gloan. It can be seen trying to keep the Germans away from Paris here:

http://www.flyingmule.com/products/IX-DDIJ002

Finally, if you have only $9.99 to spend, you in luck. For that amount you can pick up a Matchbox Collectibles MB-H3737 P-40E Warhawk Diecast Model USAAF 343rd FG, 11th FS Aleutian Tigers, Aleutian Islands, 1943. It can be found being de-iced here:

http://www.flyingmule.com/products/MB-H3737
