Default KingMaker

KingMaker was the only Avalon Hill game could ever get my friends growing up to ever finish, mainly because a game could be finished over a couple of days usually.

Also had Battle of the Bulge and made a special table to hold all the fold out maps, but after a couple of weeks, they would lose interest in it and stop playing. i envy those of you that found opponents who would not grow bored after time with games like those classic AH

Hey!

Nice to see you again Swamp. Guess the Reserves duty has finally ended? Got the retirement part there now?

I forget your 1st name and my deepest apologies.. Remember all those years chatting and playing CC/CM with you and the fun, but it has slipped..

Doing some better here, permanently disabled, overcame "most" of the initial stroke immediate affects, but left with neurological issues. S/T memory, walking, seizures, some other things as a result and have developed a few others as a result later on, but doing as well as can and not complaining.

I started playing CC again 2-3 years ago, PeG-WW2/PG2 before that to try gaming again with nothing to do. CM was out. too much to try and remember, as well as even the movement and graphics was hard on me.

Anyway.. Stumbled onto the site again and glad found it.. Was looking to get active with at least chatting with the old comrades again. You, Frank, Rob, Steve, Kent, Soldier, Bill, Starfury and others not coming to mind right away.

Mark,

It's Pat, and nobody calls me that here anyways, it's always just swamp

I'm in my last year in the USAF, I'm over 35 years in now, its been a heck of a career.

3 trips to Iraq, and 1 to Afghanistan, I'm ready to be done. War is a young mans game and I'm no youngster anymore.

As chance would have it, I still mess around with CC3 a bit, however it doesn't run like it should on my old laptop. If you know of any current CC3 sites I'd be thankful.

I'm glad to see that that you have gained back some of the things that the stroke stole away from you and that you are willing to hang around here with the old campaigners again.

Stay in touch,

Swamp

Pat,

4 tours.. You are right.. More than enough to call it quits. That is well enough and enough times in harms way for our country.

You probably already know about CCnet:

http://www.closecombatseries.net/CCS...hp?name=Forums

There is a semi active cc3 community and much more active other cc community in general.

Have you ever played the later CC3 type game COI? It plays really well on windows 7 and Vista and is almost exactly like CC3 with points based purchases for units.

It's really funny. All those years we played CC3 with the points based system and had a blast, then none of us really liked CC4, nor 5 when they came out and now I just play the force pool based games. Mainly WAR, though now am playing some CC5 old mods.

Frank and I used to play CC4 online sometimes when it 1st came out, same with CC5, but it was mainly CC3.

The series of Vetmods by a gentleman named TT are just superb if anyone ever wants to play Ardennes based mods on CC4/5 and WAR even.

I don't play H2H anymore either Steve, not since the olden days.. Enough of that.
