We seem to be in the summer doldrums, with regard to currently in stock items. Based on what I'm hearing, there should be more to talk about next week. Nevertheless, I am able to feature both an AFV and plane.

The AFV is the rarely offered SU-122 in winter camo. It's a 1:72 offering from Forces of Valor and can be secured from Diecast Direct for $12.95. See it prowling the snow covered steppes here:

http://www.diecastdirect.com/asp_mod...ctCode=FV85041

Our air pick for this week is a well weathered Zeke from Corgi in the 1:72 scale. It is offered by Bad Cat for an affordable $18.95. It can be spotted here:

This week we have three armor offerings--all from World War II.

Inspired by our recent CMAK multi-player game at SZO and my team's armor commander's great love for Italian fighting machines, this week's picks include two 1:43 scale Italian armored cars from Schucco each is offered by CR Grace for $20.00 a piece. The first is a Ansaldo AB41 Armoured Car. See it patrolling in the North African desert at this location:

http://gallery.bcentral.com/GID40303...AB41-6375.aspx

The second Italian armored car is the Lanci Ansaldo 1ZM. See it here before the Brits blast it into scrap:

http://gallery.bcentral.com/GID40303...-1ZM-6380.aspx

A new 1:72 release from Dragon is our third selection. Dragon is finally venturing into the AFVs of the Western Allies. Our pick is a Sherman M4A3(76)W, 19th Tank Bn., ""Phantom"" 9th Armored Division w/VVSS from Diecast Direct and available for $16.95. See it hunting for (and hoping not to find) the German big cats here:

http://www.diecastdirect.com/asp_mod...ctCode=DW60164

We have one flying selection this week. From the Pacific we feature the THIS IS THE FRANKLIN MINT ARMOUR JAPANESE FLOATPLANE 1/48 SCALE DIECAST MODEL B11E069. NICE GREEN PAINT WITH "VII-107" MARKINGS.
*IMPERIAL JAPANESE NAVY
*NAKAJIMA A6M2-N
*5TH AIR WING
*ALEUTIANS CAMPAIGN, 1942

It can also be picked up from CR Grace for $39.50, a very good price for an Armour/Franklin Mint 1:48 scale plane. It seems as though he flew an F-2 at least at one time:

http://hem.passagen.se/galland/p08.html

See it in the blue Pacific readying for take-off here:

The summer slows continue into this week.

With that in mind, we'll feature a couple of unusual King & Country AFVs in 1:30 scale that are available from the Sierra Toy soldier Company. The first is FOB019 -- Vickers MK IV Tank for $75.00. See this early war light tank and accompanying figures here:

http://sierratoysoldier.com/catalog/...nk_5071089.htm

The second is a IWJ024 - Type 95 "Chi-Ha" Japanese Tank for $79.00. You can see it heading for Singapore here:

http://sierratoysoldier.com/catalog/...nk_5071100.htm

For those who enjoy machines of the air, we start with a plane that was still in limited US service when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. It is offered by The Flying Mule for $9.99. It is a
Model Power Postage Stamp Planes MP-5560
P-26 Peashooter Diecast Model
US Army 94th Sqn in 1:63 scale

See it in neutrality yellow here:

http://www.flyingmule.com/products/MP-5560

Our final selection is from Bad Cat Toys Labor Day sale. It is a 1:48 Armour BF-109 for just $35.00. They claim it is a BF-109G. If it is, it is a very early version. For my money it looks like a BF-109F. Another site posts this plane as a BF-109F:

http://www.aikensairplanes.com/frank...rmour98093.htm

It appears that Maltzahn flew a F-2 for at least part of his service: http://hem.passagen.se/galland/p08.html

Either way, you can see it in MTO camo here:

http://badcattoys.stores.yahoo.net/bflukd531byf.html

This week we feature two AFVs from different fronts of World War II.

First from the Eastern front is the original T-34--model 1940. You will note that it's gun is shorter and positioned differently than on any subsequent version of the the T-34. This on is a 1:72 Dragon and is a $10.00 Diecast Direct closeout. If you are a fan of Eastern Front armor and do not already have this one, I suggest that you snap it up while it is both cheap and available. Go to it here:

http://www.diecastdirect.com/asp_mod...ctCode=DW60134

Moving to the the other side of Europe, we feature the Schuco Military M20 Armored Utility Car U.S. 1944 1:43 scale, offered by German Aircooled for $15.15. This site has the best prices that I have found on the the new Schuco Military line. See our lightly armored selection here:

http://www.germanaircooled.com/cart/...e1d1df65d4a04f

Our first selection for our aviation fans is from the modern era and the skies of the former Soviet Union. It is a 1:72 scale Gaincorp World Aircraft Collection GC-8017C
Su-33 Sea Flanker Diecast Model
Russian Navy, Bort 69.

The Flying Mule has it on sale for just $29.99. Gaincorp makes very nice aircraft and you can rarely find any at this low price. See it patrolling here:

http://www.flyingmule.com/products/GC-8017C

The IXO 1:72 scale Dornier Do 335 Pfeil is once again available. It has been spotted in stock at the Flying Mule for $24.99. If you are interested, I would grab one now. In the past the "out of stock" sign was put up quite quickly with regard to this piece. But for now, it can be had here:

http://www.flyingmule.com/products/IX-PIXJ014

Both of our AFV selections for this week are from Bad Cat. For those who like 'em big, our first offering will be of interest. It is a 21st Century M41 Walker Bulldog tank in 1:18 scale for $29.95. It was more frequently seen about 35 years ago, but can still be spotted here:

http://www.badcataviation.com/m41wabu121ce.html

For those who prefer something small, in the 1:72 scale, we have the Dragon Sturmtiger diorama for the close out price of only $17.00 Check it out here:

http://www.badcataviation.com/strforbadi1d.html

A 1:48 Armour airplane is a pretty good deal at $48.99, but is a very good deal when it is a twin engine bomber offered with free shipping. That is what we found Diecast Direct for a B-26-B-55 Marauder. See this "Big Hairy Bird" here:

http://www.diecastdirect.com/asp_mod...uctCode=A-E052

Our final selection is a 1:72 scale Corgi CLOSEOUT P-40E-1 - White 86, "Star Dust", 1st Lt. Andrew J Howard, 9th FS/49th FG, Australia 1942. It is offered by Pete's for $15.99. See it over the Outback here:

Diecast Direct is having a free shipping sale, so two of our four featured items this week are theirs. The first is a 1:24 Franklin Mint M4A3 Sherman offered for $139.95. You can see it in camo here:

http://www.diecastdirect.com/asp_modules/add_item.asp?ProductCode=A-B649

The second is an Armour 1:48 the Ehrler BF-109G for $49.95. There is only one left, but other 109s and Armour planes are also available on the same terms. See this one here:

http://www.diecastdirect.com/asp_modules/add_item.asp?ProductCode=A-C995

Our second AFV offering is another 1:72 Corgi diorama for $17.00. We featured one last week and this one, featuring the German Elefant is also on clearance at Bad Cat. Check it out here:

http://www.badcataviation.com/elrforfrdi1d.html

Our final offering is another sale item, this time from Great Models in Utah offered for an affordable $9.95. It is a 1/72 WI7400101 A6-M5 Zero (Witty WI7400101). It can be found here (there is no direct link, so you may have to do a little work to find it):

Our first of two AFVs is a unique selection that is available to international buyers. It is a 1:48 Tiger 1 with a full interior. You can pick it up for about $56.30 (6,650 yen) from Hobby Link Japan. Even if you don't plan to buy one, it's worth taking a look at it here:

http://www.hlj.com/product/TAR96001

UK's TankZone also has it for 49.99 pounds. You can see it there by clicking on this link:

http://www.tankzone.co.uk/cart/targa1.htm

Our second AFV is perfect for the collector on a more modest budget. It is a US M3 HT from Corgi. This 1:50 piece is available from Pete's for only $15.00. As Pete has only three left, you better hurry if you want one. See it in its 9th Armored Division livery here:

http://www.petescollectibles.com/dis...o=HC60412#item

Diecast Direct continues it free shipping special (on selected items) through the end of this month. Our first selection in the air is from that sale. It is a newly released IXO 1:72 scale KI-84 Hayate "Frank" fighter for $22.95. See this late war Japanese war bird here:

http://www.diecastdirect.com/asp_mod...de=IXJ-2006-04

Our final selection is from the Cold War era. It is MIG-21 in the 1:72 scale from Hobby Master. It can be had from Bat Cat for $22.95. If you want to hold out for the camo version, it will be released soon. But for now, check out the one that is in stock here:

Both of our AFV picks this week come from Bad Cat and both are their 21st Century 1:32 scale "duel" packs, with each being offered for $29.95.

The lighter armor selection is all German, and combines Sd. Kfz 251/1 Ausf. D HT with a Sd. Kfz. 222 armored car. You can spot them patrolling the steppes here:

http://www.badcataviation.com/sd25audhasd2.html

Our second set of two combines the German Tiger with the US M-18 Hellcat. See them on the hunt somewhere in France at this vector:

http://badcattoys.stores.yahoo.net/tiivsm18heir.html

11/25/06 EDIT: Each of these dual [duel] packs can be picked up from 3000Toys for $25.95--a much better buy, especially in light of a $12 price increase by Bad Cat. See the links here:

http://www.3000toys.com/catalog/item...ENTURY13231-S1

http://www.3000toys.com/catalog/item...ENTURY13222-S1

END EDIT

The first of our two flying picks is a Witty 1/72 scale WI7400101 A6-M5 Zero offered by Great Models for $13.30. You can see it trying to fend off Corsairs and Hellcats here:

http://www.greatmodels.com/index.cgi?item_num=WI7400101

Our final aircraft pick is from the modern era and is a sister plane of one that was featured about a month ago. It is again from the Flying Mule and is offered for $29.99. It is a 1:72 scale Gaincorp World Aircraft Collection GC-8016B Su-33 Sea Flanker Diecast Model Russian Navy, Bort 65. It can be found on radar over the former USSR here:

http://www.flyingmule.com/products/GC-8016B
