WWII Trivia Smackdown Time!
Ok so I thought this might be fun. I have had a WWII Q&A book sitting on my shelf for about a year, time to blow off the dust, crack it open and give some of these a shot. There is a good variety of difficulty I will post new ones as they get answered. Keep in mind they are all out of a single souce book so if you think any are wrong...don't blame me :) ! LOL
No google. First one to post the correct answer is the proverbial winner. Identify the type of aircraft that was produced in larger amounts then any other during the war. A) Japanese Zero B) Messerschmitt BF-109E C) B-24 Liberator D) DC-3 (including C-53 & C-47 versions)

I know it's not the Zeke. I'll go with the B-24--"C".

I'd go with the Me-109 if it wasn't model specific. Given that I'd say it was the DC-3 and it's variants.

According to my sources, the most produced aircraft in WWII was the IL_2 -- 36,172. But maybe that's combat aircraft. We probably made a boatload of DC-3s.

Have to vote for the DC-3 seeing there were so many of them all over the world.

The Answer!
According to the book it was the Messerschmitt BF-109E which means no one technically won this round. The anwser being that "nearly 36,000" produced. The actual number is kind of hazy though do to retooling and using other parts etc.
Here is a good article that might interest you on the 109 and it includes some nice art photos of the plane. http://www.aviation-history.com/mess...itt/bf109.html However all that said I would have to say KG_Soldier was the winner as it looks like the IL-2 had more produced if 36,172 is correct. Great Job! If you guys like this kind of thing I have plenty more and will post new ones periodically.
