The Map @2400x1900 is moving along well (just adding the flavor now- fences, fields, etc.), and we'll be in the 8,000 pt range.
This will be bigger attacks & more critical defending round. How will the allies armor stack up against any Panthers or Tigers if included? Or should it be a more Sherman vs. PzIV game for balance? Not sure the allies can get that magical 5:1 ratio at equal points for the big cats.

The more variety the better.
A great deal of the match up stuff depends on terrain, distances, smoke and what kinds of Allied tanks and tank destroyers.

Possibly a cap on the heavy armor?
Or something like 3 or 4 smaller AFVs for every "Big Cat" ? That way the Allies cant just prep for a certain # of Heavy German AFVs. Like Bill says also the terrain and such should be factored into any descision. Im for lots of variety also, I have played way too many games facing nothing but Tigers and Panthers =)

How about For every Tiger/Panther(any model) 3 Mk IV's should be bought this would prevent a Cat parade...

How about no guns over 75 mm and no Panthers/Jagdpanthers?

The scenario is a strong "rescue/relief" mission.
The map is basically a large mt. valley with hills, rises and fields set between 4 large lvl 19 hills (inaccessible) & 2 n/s rivers (that have to be crossed) with a central city under active fighting - you are in contact & LOS with the enemy upon setup. The terrain & scale certainly allows for larger guns plus the turns may be 40+ with many objective locations across the map.

If the room to manuever is lost in a mountain type setting I.E.
mountain pass chokepoints, river crossings and limited traversible ground wont it strongly favor the Heavies? Will this be a severely "Road bound " map? Want to send a sneak peak of map so we can get a better Idea how to keep it somewhat balanced?

Terrain is overall maneuver friendly- it's a valley between the mts & not road-bound unless you want to move faster as normal.
I usually send out the map when completed so you can make a better "guess" as to what units you will need. :)

Sounds to me that this type of map will probably favor ambushers. Heavies (especially Germans with better optics) are best at long range and with limited cover for their opponents.
However, it is all only speculation until the map is available.
